Commercial Voltage Optimisation

Modern Energy specialise in energy savings for a wide range of premises. We combine voltage optimisation with other technologies such as Led & Solar P.V to provide the highest levels of energy savings possible, dependent on site-specific issues.

BESPOKE POWER OPTIMISATION
In the UK supply voltages tend to be much higher than needed by most equipment, wasting energy, and shortening the working life of some equipment. Our range of Bespoke Voltage Optimisers solve this problem and can also improve power quality when we build in Power Factor Correction or Harmonic Filtration for example.
Modern Energy  can provide a  whole site Voltage Optimisation unit, similar to what our competitors offer, however our unique engineered approach and detailed site surveying will normally enable us to provide a more localised approach, tailoring bespoke equipment specific to your site, and only applied to the areas where substantial savings can be made thus saving you money on the purchase of the correct Voltage Optimisation unit & also saving you financially on the correct energy reduction in the right areas.

Every building is unique this means each project is unique from the amount of energy it consumes to how the energy is used & when it is used, For each site we will need a bespoke design, site specific to its needs. To find this solution we carry out a detailed assessment to estimate the energy savings and provide a guaranteed business case.
We first identify that there is an energy saving opportunity for Voltage Optimisation. Through half hourly energy data, voltage logging and load analysis we determine how much we can reduce your utility bills and your carbon footprint.

Unit capacity
To start evaluating an opportunity we first need to calculate the size of unit required. The unit’s capacity needs to cover the maximum consumption of the site and allow for future growth.
To do this we need to find the maximum power demand of a site. This is detailed in half hourly energy data held by your electricity supplier, or stated on your electricity bill.
We specify a unit based on this figure, incorporating headroom of roughly 20 per cent, allowing for anomalies in energy consumption or for further expansion on site.

Lighting Optimisation & Low Energy Lighting
Modern Energy focus mainly on Power Optimisation, where our localised approach and detailed surveying identifies large areas of discharge lighting, typically found in warehousing/ distribution, and manufacturing etc, our  Lighting Optimisers can be offered as a solution to energy reduction on only the lighting.
Modern Energy will design a comprehensive lighting control systems incorporating technologies such as daylight dimming  combined with our voltage optimiser. Our solutions provide lighting energy savings of between 20% and 80% without changing any fittings. This is probably why we are the number one choice for large facilities operating long hours such as distribution centers, Retail outlets where payback tends to be within 1 year.

Power Optimisation Electrical equipment manufacturers produce products which can be used all over the world. Products for Europe are designed to work across the European harmonised voltage range and current CE regulations, (207 Volts to 253 Volts).
Voltage Optimisation is a well-established and proven technology, especially in the UK where electricity is supplied at an average of 242 Volts, which is high compared to many other countries. Crucially, however, much of our electrical equipment operates most efficiently at around 220 Volts. When your voltage exceeds this level, energy is wasted in both heat and vibration, which costs you money and significantly reduces the life span of your electrical appliances. For example our design means you will not have to change your lamps so often, which will also reduce your on-going maintenance costs.
So How Much Can I Save?
Ultimately the level of energy saving achieved will be dictated by a combination of your incoming supply voltage levels and the types of electrical equipment you use. The higher your supply voltage is, the greater the potential to make energy savings from our Voltage Optimisers.
However different types of electrical equipment deliver different levels of energy saving for the same reduction in voltage.
How can I find out how much I can save

Modern energy will provide a  site visit where we will identify key factors of energy use & advise you what your savings would be when a Voltage optimisation unit has been fitted.
